As the saying goes.. nothing is ours but time....
We switch our phones as when needed from IOS to Android and vice versa.
Fortunately or Unfortunately I had to recently move to Android from IOS...
IOS ........... I will be back
Android..... Here I come..... As the great Barney Stinson says....
Its gonna be Legen - wait for it - dary......
Jokes apart,
The main problem with the switch being that IOS and android are two different OS with little in common. But thankfully, there are multiple third party s/w which allow you to get your data form IOS to android.
The basic things which are needed as per my knowledge are
- Photos - Who wants to leave their collection... come on
- SMS - U can't live without these but U cant live with these due to all the Spam msg's
- Contacts - Definite yes
- Whatsapp Chat - Subjective
- Simply Connect your iphone to laptop or desktop but close your Itunes when it opens...
- Now go to your My Computer screen where you will be able to see your iphone as one of the portable devices.
- Now open the drive and simply copy data/files inside the folder marked as DCIM... this will be all that is required for your Photos/Videos.....
- Backup your iPhone and locate the backup file.
- Connect your iPhone to your computer. Choose File > Devices > Back Up.
- Depending on your version of iTunes, you may have to right-click the
device from the list and select Backup Now. You can also automatically
backup your iPhone by syncing with Itunes.
- Find the text messaging backup file on your computer.
- You’re going to have to do a little digging to find the correct backup file.
- If you’re running a Mac, the file will be inside /(user)/Library/Application Support/Mobile Sync/Backup. Hint: If you can’t find the Library folder, option-click on the Go menu.
- If you’re running Windows, the file will be inside /users/(username)/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/Mobile Sync.
- Select the folder with the most recent timestamp. The file you’re looking for will be called 3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28. The quickest way to find this file is by copy/pasting the file name into your file system search bar.
- Once you’ve located the text messaging file, move this file to your new Android device (either on the internal storage or SD card, doesn’t matter).
- Download iSMS2droid from Google Play
- Install iSMS2droid on your Android phone, open the app and choose “Select iPhone SMS Database.” Find the text messaging backup file you transferred over to your Android device.
- Make sure you click “All Text Messages” on the next screen to ensure all your texts are converted and saved as an XML file.
- Download SMS Backup & Restore from Google Play
- Install SMS Backup & Restore on your Android phone, open the app and choose “Restore.” Locate the XML file created by iSMS2droid.
- Choose “Restore All Messages,” and once the process completes you should have all your iPhone text messages on your Android smartphone!
